Why can't elastic washers be used in rotary bearings?

There are three main reasons why elastic gaskets can not be used in rotary bearings:

  1. The support area of the elastic washer is too small: because the support area of the spring washer is relatively small, if there is a large pre-tightening force of bolts (such as the pre-tightening of bolts of grade 8.8 and above), it may cause plastic deformation of the adjacent support surface of the spring washer. With the increase of service time and the increase of deformation, the pre-tightening will appear "relaxation" phenomenon, which will be straight for the normal use of rotary bearings. Then it has an impact.

  2. The anti-loosening effect of spring washer is general: the anti-loosening effect of simple spring washer is not as reliable as that of thread and locking glue.

  3. The suitable flat cushion can increase the support area, prevent the extrusion plastic deformation of the workpiece with insufficient hardness when the bolt is pre-tightened to a certain extent, and help to maintain the reliability of pre-tightening.
